CM Chandrababu, Minister Narayana on High Alert as Cyclone ‘Montha’ Nears AP

Amaravati / Nellore, October 25:
With Cyclone ‘Montha’ set to impact Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted an emergency teleconference with all District Collectors, SPs, and senior officials, directing them to remain on high alert. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert, warning that the cyclone will cross the coast near Kakinada on October 28, bringing wind speeds of 90–110 kmph and heavy rainfall between 80–100 mm across districts from Srikakulam to Tirupati.

CM Naidu emphasized zero tolerance for loss of life or property, instructing officials to take advance precautionary measures and implement disaster management plans immediately. He ordered NDRF and SDRF teams to be deployed in vulnerable zones and directed officials to ensure uninterrupted essential services—including drinking water, electricity, telecom networks, and civil supplies. The Chief Minister also advised declaring school holidays in high-risk areas if required, and to evacuate coastal residents to safer shelters.

Meanwhile, in Nellore, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Dr. Ponguru Narayana, reviewed flood preparedness amid rising water levels in the Penna River and the release of surplus water from the Somasila Project. He warned that the next three days are critical, urging citizens to stay alert. Following his instructions, TDP cadres inspected flood-prone areas near Bodigadithota and relocated affected families to rehabilitation centers.

Former Municipal Chairperson T. Anuradha personally supervised food and shelter arrangements for evacuees. Minister Narayana, during a teleconference with officials and TDP teams, stressed continuous monitoring of the situation, ensuring no inconvenience to the public. He instructed authorities to maintain constant communication and take immediate relief measures wherever necessary.
